Warshrag kick

I've been knitting a few dishcloths to escape from the lace of Mystic Light and Orkney Pi. I think I'm finished for a few days so I will start back on Mystic Light in earnest tomorrow. If I try to start back tonight I will make mistakes so I'm waiting till I'm fresh. Anyway, here is the latest batch to show off. First, a turtle dishcloth. The little ball you see lying above it is all I had left. I made it using the leftover yarn from the Intense Camping dishcloth.Another Grandmother's Favorite using Peaches & Creme Gumdrop color, 3.75mm needles. This is what I keep in the SUV when I am waiting. I always have something easy to work on, even though I never leave the house without a bag with 2 or 3 projects.


Feather and Fan Dishcloth using a 3.75mm needle and the leftover yarn from the Lacy Waterfall dishcloth. I did 12 repeats of the 4 row pattern and then had to use the last of the sage green to bind off the last 5 stitches.Another Feather and Fan using the leftover Gumdrop color.
OK, hopefully the next post will be about Mystic Light.

A slap in the face

Ok, usually I just post about knitty things, but I am really upset right now. Here is the scenario--
The high school librarian retired this year. The position is posted. Three people (that I know of) are interviewed:
1. A young teacher with 12 years of experience in the elementary grades (7 of which were spent in the library) with a library certification for all grade levels.

2. A young teacher with probably as many years experience as the above teacher with library certification but only been in an elementary classroom.

3. A high school English teacher with no library certification and as far as I know no experience in the library.


On the interview committee, the high school principal, 3 high school English teachers, and the middle school librarian(who was called at the last minute to sit on this committee)

Guess who they decided to hire?
Yeah...the non qualified, one of their own people English teacher.

I'm sorry. Did I waste my time and money going to college for a Masters in Library Science? Do qualifications and education stand for nothing? This is a slap in the face for school librarians everywhere, and especially for the two ladies who spent countless hours and $$$ to get to this point.
I may not be able to send my child to a school that values education so little.

Finally!

got some cooperation from Blogger and loaded the dishcloth picture. It 's made with Sugar 'n Cream sage green cotton yarn using a 3.5mm circular needle. This was the June KAL from Shirley's Knitting Knook yahoo group.Also forgot to post the stats on the socks--Dream in Color Smooshy yarn in the Cool Fire color. Used 2.25mm circulars from KnitPicks. Knitted 2 socks on 2 circs.

Two finishes...

Lilac socks from Jeane Townsend. And I also finished another dishcloth but Blogger is being contrary and every time I load the picture, it turns out sideways, even though it shows the correct way on my computer. Go figure...I will try again later.

I think I will be able to get some good knitting time in this weekend. I plan to concentrate on the Mystic Light shawl. Maybe I can get it closer to finished.

Slow Bee,

which I certainly am. This is clue 1 of the Slow Bee Mystery KAL. Friday, clue 5 was released. I am four weeks behind already. This is a close up of the center panel.
And of some of the side triangles.
I still need to finish up Mystic Light. I need to tink out at least a couple of rows to fix whatever I messed up. Then move onto clue 5 of that one and the finishing. Well, I will leave you now to tink a few stitches and then on to bed.

Some kniting

got done this week. I finished up a Pine Tree Bookmark using the leftover Socks That Rock yarn in Rainforest Jasper yarn.Also got to the gusset of the Jeanne Townsend Lilac Socks. I'm using Dream in Color Smooshy yarn in the Cool Fire color.
I also finally finished up clue 1 of the Slow Bee Mystery shawl. I am going slowly with it and I will try to post a picture tomorrow when it is light again.
