Out with the old...

This will be my final post for 2008....I've been looking back to see how many projects I have finished knitting this year...here is the countdown:
55 dishcloths
11 socks
4 bookmarks
1 sweater
1 shawl
1 blanket
1 scarf
2 hats
a grand total of 76 items for the year of 2008

I plan to keep track for 2009 as well. There will be less dishcloths as I have decided to knit only the patterns from the MonthlyDishcloths group, even though I belong to 3. I hope to finish more pairs of socks and perhaps a few more larger items. We shall see.

I have a few items that I hope to finish in the next week or two as well--the second Central Park Hoodie (for Megan), a chunky knit One Row Scarf (from Yarn Harlot), and the
Halema`uma`u Socks (kit from The Loopy Ewe).

I'm off for the evening to knit.

I hope 2009 is a wonderful year for everyone!

Snow Day!

So...on Tuesday of this past week, this is what it looked like in the afternoon. We got anywhere from 2 to 4 inches. So of course school was called off for Tuesday and Wednesday. It was kinda nice. But we are off now for two weeks for Christmas break...til Jan 5th.

This is our Christmas tree this year. Bought this tree last year and it is prelit. I really like that part.
I finished up 12 of these Feather and Fan dishcloths for presents this month. These are the last two. I have wrapped the others and forgot to take a picture of them all.
This is the last dishcloth of the year for the Monthly Dishcloths yahoo group. I think it is a poinsettia design. They have not posted the name yet.
Now it is time to get back to finishing up the green Central Park Hoodie for Megan. TTFN!!!

Dishcloth update

Still on a dishcloth binge...This is the Snowman Stamp dishcloth from the December KAL with ShirleysKnittingKnook yahoo group. I should have made a couple or three stitches on the edges garter stitch so it would not roll up.
This is called Grandmother's Favorite Snowman dishcloth. This was the December KAL for the MonthlyDishcloths yahoo group.
Links are in the sidebar for the patterns. Although, this snowman pattern had some serious flaws which I was unwilling to rip out and try to make it right. Hopefully, she gets it corrected soon. More updates later...

Warning!...lots of pictures

Here is the monster puppy. He has a ring frisbee in his mouth (and around his head...silly boy!) He is now 8 months old and at least 65 lbs. He is getting to be a big boy. My husband is missing him right now though. We took him to the vet for neutering and he is too active so they had to keep him to get the bleeding under control. It's been quiet around here since yesterday morning. We are picking him up tomorrow.
These are th Halema`uma`u Socks from the Loopy Ewe. I've been knitting on these yesterday and today between cleaning, laundry, and baking the ham and turkey.
Got this in the mail about a week ago. It's the last shipment of the year for the Socks That Rock sock club. I think I will cast these on next. I love the colors and it is perfect for Christmas.
Got this love yarn in the mail from Barbara Bretton, the author, of Romancing the Yarn blog. She is giving away yarns and I posted on this one and won! I cast on today for the One Row Scarf that the Yarn Harlot made using some handspun yarn. I'm liking how it is looking. Need to get a picture of that later this weekend.
This is the latest Feather & Fan dishcloth that I finished. I keep these in the car to work on when I have to wait very long in traffic.
I finished this one from MonthlyDishcloths yahoo group. It is called Illusion Candy Cane dishcloth as you can see from the picture.
Progress is still being made on the green Central Park Hoodie. I plan to get some knitting done on that one tomorrow.
We switched cellular phone companies back at the beginning of the month. This is an LG Shine that I got when we switched. I really love it except the ringtone is not loud enough for me to hear most of the time. Oh, well. I'm hoping my daughter Megan has some new ringtones she can put on it for me.

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving has been a good one. We will have one tomorrow and another on Sunday. Yippee!!! Gonna sign off for now, more laundry to do. TTFN!

Now it's November

So, I started this post a few days ago and am just now getting back to it. Below you see the last dishcloth I finished (before today) It is the Autumn's Country Quilt dishcloth from mid-October Monthly Dishcloths KAL. Used Peaches n' Creme Burgundy yarn & 4.5mm circular needles.

Here I am on Halloween carving the one and only pumpkin about an hour before the beginning of trick or treat.
Here is my youngest daughter in her rag doll outfit with a neighbor friend ready to go trick or treating.
The "queen" is sitting on the bath mat in the bathroom taking a nap.
Beginning of ShirleysKnittingKnook November KAL ... using Sugar & Cream hot orange yarn and 4.5mm needles
Beginning of the November KAL with MonthlyDishcloths yahoo group. Using Peaches 'n Creme Army tan and 4.5mm needles (This one I finished up today...need to get a picture)
The back of Megan's Central Park Hoodie is finished. I am now working on the left front.
Dingaling here is Ranger. He has a frisbee around his head. We finally had to throw it away because he chewed it practically to bits.

Hopefully, more will follow soon.

Fall Break knitting...

So, Ive been on Fall Break from school this week and I have done a lot of knitting. I finished the Central Park Hoodie I've been working on. It only needs buttons and that will have to wait until I can get to Lexington to a store besides WalMart. This is day #2 of the mid-October Monthly Dishcloths KAL in Peaches & Creme Burgundy on 3.5mm circulars.
I started another Central Park Hoodie for my oldest dd in the same Knit Picks Swish Superwash but this time in Dublin green. I will have to make the sleeves at least 1 inch longer and the body 1 1/2 inches longer because she is a little taller than me.
Here is the monster puppy (at least 63 lbs by now and only 7 months old) with his newest baby, a pink bear. We bought it several years ago for our little black Chow mix, Sabrina, but she really doesn't like squeaky toys. Ran across it yesterday looking for something else and so gave it to him. He is obsessed with it now and is sleeping with it right beside him all the time.
I finished up the Gumdrop socks yesterday. Used Knit Picks circulars size 2.omm. This is the previous installment of the Blue Moon Sock club. Glad to be finally done with them.
I didn't have much to spare from the skein either as you can see in the picture below. Only inches left of the two balls I had divided it into. Both remains weighed in at .45 ounces. Whew!
I immediately cast on for these socks that I got from The Loopy Ewe some time ago. I plan to at least get the toe increases finished before I move back to the CPH and the dishcloth KAL later today. For now, housework beckons...unfortunately. Think I will start with the bathrooms... get the yuckiest job out of the way first.
Later!

I can't believe...

it's been a month since my last post. Well, a lot has happened in the last month...so here I go catching up. So here is what I'm driving right now, because....this is what happened to my SUV and it's in the shop right now.
Yeah, I really did a number on it. Sideswiped a guard post...and I can't even begin to explain how I did it except to say that I was not thinking about what I was doing. Nuff said.
Here is what I have been knitting...Woven cables dishcloth from the MonthlyDishcloths group
Zig with a Bit of Zag dishcloth from RachelsKnittingRoom yahoo group
a ghost dishcloth from ShirleysKnittingKnook group
Frankenstein's Monster dishcloth from MonthlyDishcloths group.
Then this past Friday (Oct 10) evening, I traveled to Lexington, KY to Joseph-Beth Booksellers to see...
Ann Shayne and Kay Gardiner of Mason Dixon Knitting fame! They were funny and very entertaining. And I got to see lots of fabulous knitting.
OK, I've been working on these socks since September 3rd. That's the first time I cast on. Got through the first pattern repeat, misread the directions, messed up big time and ripped them out and started over. Now I have the next Socks That Rock sock club installment in and HAVE to finish these before I can start on the new ones. That's my rule for myself. By the way, this is the Blue Moon Fibers Sock Club.
Now I am finished with the seaming and hood on my Central Park Hoodie and have picked up the stitches for the left side button band. This is a flat veiw of the hood.
And here is a blurry view of my oldest daughter reluctantly modeling
I don't know what I was doing, but I would have taken more pictures except these pictures looked fine when I took them. Oh, well I will make sure to take more (and hopefully better) pictures when it is all finished.
That's all I got for now. Hope I won't be as long catching up next time. I'm on fall break this week so the sweater and socks should be finished before I go back to school next Monday.
