Here we go again...

with another snow day. This picture doesn't look like much fell and it didn't. But when you combine previously wet roads with a low of about 19 or 20 degrees, then you have icy roads out in the county and the superintendent feels it is too dangerous to run the buses with students on them. I agree wholeheartedly, even though this messes up my week of Book Fair. I will have to do some rescheduling when we go back tomorrow.
So, anyway, I cast on for this on Monday evening. What you see here are the sleeves of the Central Park Hoodie using Knit Picks Swish Superwash in the Bordeaux colorway. This is so very soft and squishy feeling. I am going to thoroughly enjoy knitting this project. I also have more of this yarn ordered in the Dublin colorway (green) for another CPH for my oldest daughter.

Some progress...

I've gotten to the gusset decreases on the Solstice Slip socks. I stopped the zigzag rib at the leg and changed the heel to a regular k1, sl1 heel flap with picked up stitches. I can't seem to do a good job on the wraps when I try that kind of heel. I liked the way the toe and heel looked on the Monsoon socks. I may try that one again sometime.
This is the latest KAL from Rachels Knitting Room. Used Sugar n Cream Hot Pink and a US 3.75mm circular Addi Turbo.
This is my youngest daughter Sarah with one of our cats. As you can see, the cat is not too pleased. Anyway, Sarah just turned 12 on the 17th. We are having a gymnastics party for some of her friends this afternoon. Wish me luck!

It's coming!

The ice storm is moving in, so our schools dismissed at 10:00 this morning. I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want! Lots of knitting will be involved.

Below is a blurry picture of the lunar eclipse that occurred last night. I tried to get a picture that included the "star" below and to the left of the moon, but you can hardly see it in this picture. My camera is not quite professional grade so it doesn't show up well. The next picture down is a little better one of the moon only.

This is Day 3 of the Rachels Knitting Room KAL. I'm pretty sure by Friday I will have a cloth that says LOVE.
This is Day 5 of the Monthly Dishcloth mid-month KAL. It is usually a stitch technique in the middle of the month as opposed to a picture or worded cloth at the first of the month. We are using 2 colors and a slip stitch pattern. I like how it is turning out. It will be a little thicker cloth, I think.
These are the Summer of Lace socks from the BMFA STR sock club 2007 version. you are looking at them upside down and they look like a skirt. The lace part is the cuff and will fold down over the leg. I am going to knit the leg a little longer than what it calls for cause I like a longer leg.

Another finish

These are the Marble Arches socks from the 2006 Blue Moon Fibers STR Sock Club. I have one pair from 2006 left to finish and 2 more from 2007 after I finish the two I have on the needles now.
This is the next pair I cast on from 2007. They are the lace cuff of the Summer of Love Lace socks from the 2007 sock club. I also have the Solstice Slip socks to finish as well.
That's all I got for now. Back to knitting!
And hopefully, we will be back to school tomorrow. Sarah still has a deep mucus filled cough.

Sickness

Well it finally hit our house. My husband and I have had our flu shots. The (almost) 12 year old hasn't. Although, I honestly don't think she has the flu. I believe she has strep. Took her to the doctor this morning and he swabbed her throat for the lab. We will know for certain in a few days. Meanwhile he prescribed some medicine to get started on the road to good health. So this means another day at home. Woo Hoo! I can knit! Still working on the Marble Arches socks from the previous post. Will post a pic later tonight. Hopefully, of a finished pair of socks.

More than halfway

finished with the Marble Arches socks. We have had two days off this week for snow and then I got through the heel today. I've actually knitted 10 more rows beyond the pictures here. Maybe they will be finished this weekend and I can move on to the Solstice Slip socks. I'm in a finishing mood! (cause there are lots of items in the queue that I want to start) heehee

Finished!

Here is the octopus version of the blanket. I finished off the edging earlier today. It is laying out on my bed now drying. Really need to find a larger place to really stretch it out to block. Another picture later.

Here we go again...

We have had 2 more days out this week. This time for snow. This is what I have been working on these last few days. The Hemlock Ring blanket that became so popular on Brooklyn Tweed 's blog. I am using Plymouth Encore worsted weight in a lavendar color #1033. It is almost finished. I have less than 166 stitches left around the edge to do. That's how many were left when I took these two pictures. Forgive me for the poor quality. When I finally finish it off, I will spread it out and take a better picture.

These top two photos were taken this morning. about an hour ago.

This one was taken yesterday. We had about 3 inches of snow starting at about 5pm Monday and it continued until sometime in the night when it changed over to rain. Nasty stuff.
I did finish up this cute little bookmark on Sunday. It was a knitalong on the MonthlyBookmarksKAL yahoo group. Don't know the name of the pattern yet. Wait ... let me go check to see if that is posted now... Chain of Hearts Bookmark
Click on the name to find the pattern. I used size 3 Aunt Lydia's Fashion Crochet Thread in a warm rose color with size 2.75mm needles. That's all I got for now. See ya!

Out of school

For 3 days this week because our school system had so many sick we were losing money big time! So I have been cleaning up the house and KNITTING! Here is what I have been working on since the last post. I cast on the Marble Arches socks from the 2006 Blue Moon Fibers Socks That Rock Sock Club. (Yes, I am behind, but slowly catching up!)And the Solstice Slip socks from the 2007 club of the same name as above.
And I finished the February Monthly Dishcloth KAL. It's called Valentine Candy Box. I used Sugar 'n' Cream in red.
OK, update complete...back to my regularly scheduled knitting (with a little bit of housework thrown in) ;-)

Catching up

Schaefer Anne - Meditterean Sunset. This is for the Mystic Light KAL. Isn't it gorgeous?
Day 3 of the Monthly Dishcloth KAL. I've actually knitted through Day 4 but don't have an updated picture.
Finished! Serendipity socks from Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sock Club. Dragon Dance in lightweight. 2.25 mm KnitPicks circulars - 2 on 2. Loved this yarn and design! In my opinion...the best yet.
Gotta go. I'm pooped so I'm going to bed.
