Goodies in the mailbox!

I made a trip to Lexington today to purchase a wedding shower gift for Monday. When I came home here's what I found in the mailbox when I got home. First up, is the first installment of the 2008 Rockin Sock Club from Blue Moon Fibers.
Then I had ordered from KnitPicks, 3 choices for the Secret of the Stole II KAL. I'm going with this top color of Alpaca Cloud in Horizon.
This is the Mist colorway.
And this is Stream.

Gotta go knit now!

T.G.I.F.!!!

I've made a little progress on these Jaywalker socks. I need to get these done so I can move on to other things.

I knitted a few more rows on the bookmark.
And...ooops!...I seem to have started another sock. These are the Solstice Slip socks from the BMFA Sock Club 2007. I am woefully behind on both years of the past sock clubs and they just shipped out the first installment of 2008.
Gotta go knit!

Great day for knitting

It is VERY cold outside today. Right now it is 27 degrees, last night it was down to 2 degrees. So, I am not venturing out. I am staying in ... to knit. I have posted two finishes below and in my sidebar. I am still working on a bookmark from the MonthlyBookmarksKAL group. I am not very far along yet. I plan to work on it some today. Along with some housework. Yuck...but it must be done.
I forgot to give specifics for the dishcloth below.
Yarn: Sugar 'n Cream, summer splash colorway
Needles: Knitpicks Options circular 4.5 mm
Off to get a load of laundry started, then I can knit while I wait for the washer to finish!

All I have...

Here is the progress on the Unoriginal scarf. I have finished knitting 5 repeats and 1 skein. One skein to go and probably 4 more repeats of the pattern. I will be off tomorrow for a couple of medical appointments so hopefully I can get some extra knitting time in.
This is a close up.
The mid-month KAL dishcloth. I love the colors of this yarn. I think it will be very pretty when finished.
That's all I got for now.

Not much progress

to report. I haven't finished anything this weekend. I started two things though...a scarf to go with my Blue Brick Wall Unoriginal Hat and a Bookmark. Not very far along with either one of them and only a few more rows done on the Jaywalker socks. No pictures either. My wrist is really hurting so I can't knit long and the computer aggravates it too. I need to get to the doctor sometime soon.

Contest!

There is a contest here...http://mariknits.blogspot.com/2008/01/100th-post.html
It's for her 100th post. Go on over and leave a comment. Mention that I sent you, too!

TGIF

This is the Unoriginal Hat by Yarn Harlot at about 7:30 this evening. It's about halfway finished.
These are the Jaywalker socks using Silkie Socks that Rock yarn from the Sock club. I didn't like the pattern and the yarn did not want to be the pattern that came with it so it told me to use this pattern. I am almost finished decreasing the gusset. Slowly but surely...
Here is the Unoriginal Hat at 9:00. It's a quick knit and fits me perfectly. Maybe I will take a pic of me modeling it later instead of the bleach bottle. I'm also trying to figure out a scarf to go with this hat. I will need to knit it flat as opposed to the hat which was knit in the round. Hmmmmm...gotta think about this one.
Back to my regularly scheduled knitting...(while watching Monk and then Psych)

Another finish

Not a great photo...but a second finished object for 2008. This is from the MonthlyDishcloths yahoo group I belong to. They have 2 KALs a month and I am going to attempt to keep up with all of them.
OK, time to turn in. I have to go back to work tomorrow morning.

3 days in a row?

Can you believe I have posted three days in a row? Well this is what the Jaywalkers looked like yesterday morning and since I went back to work yesterday, not much has been added. They are ready for the heel flaps here and I have added about half of those so far. Plan to get the heels and gussets finished up this weekend if not more. Hopefully I will have another finish to post before the next week is up.And finally I leave you with a cute puppy picture. Have a great weekend!

Snow day!

So we had an extra day of vacation on January 2nd. We had enough rain, then snow to make it too treacherous for buses to travel with precious cargo. So I had an extra day for knitting.
For me!
Here is the view from our deck in the back yard. I know, not much snow but there is ice underneath from the rain we had before and then it got really cold --in the teens.I made tremendous progress on the socks for me...and I finished them up tonight. These are the Central Air socks from the 2006 Socks That Rock sock club. I am way behind in knitting these up. I have 6 more kits to catch up! Ha ha... I have two more from 2006 and then 4 in the 2007 club. I plan to finish up another set from 2007 and then back to one for 2006... After I finish knitting up the Jaywalkers I have started.

That's all for now. Time for bed!

Recipe show and tell

So there is this show and tell that started on Mason-Dixon Knitting. I found my mother's first cookbook (I know it's not a recipe box, but I don't remember Mom or even Grandma having a box). So here is the book...
It has a copyright of 1942. And below is the nameplate. Sorry it's blurry. She got this before she married my dad obviously.
Here is a simple recipe from the book that I remember...
Applesauce
12 tart cooking apples
5 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
Wash, peel, core, and quarter apples. Put them in saucepan. Half cover with cold water. Bring to boil. Cover. Reduce heat and let simmer until tender. Stir in sugar and salt. Cook 5 minutes more. Mash apples with a spoon or force through a sieve. chill. If desired a little lemon juice, cinnamon, or nutmeg may be added after cooking. Serves 6.

First in 2008

This is what my socks looked like yesterday morning. I am now closing in on the toes. They might possibly be finished by tonight. It is incredibly early right now because we were to go back to school today after our two week Christmas break. Got up to some snow and well below freezing temperatures-- 13 degrees. This is really cold for here and lots of schools are out today. I'm sure our reason is the temps so that students don't get frostbite waiting for the bus. But that's OK...more knitting time for me!
I will try to get back later with a "snow" picture and hopefully a finish!
