This week's progress...

This is what we woke up to this morning. I would have taken a photo this afternoon when it stopped for a while but it would have been ugly. No snow left. It is snowing again and collecting since the sun went down some time ago. We will see what it looks like in the morning.

Here is the progress I made on my Clapotis last night. I didn't get a chance to knit on it today, due to running errands and doing household chores. I will definitely work on this more tomorrow.

Here is a picture of my shadow socks. I finished them up this week also. Should have been finished by January 31st, but, oh well. At least they are finished in time for Valentine's day.

Here is another picture from a different angle. See the hearts? Doncha just love it?!

Final picture. Lion Brand Homespun yarn...garter stitch pattern scarf.

Sad day

I haven't posted about this earlier because I wasn't ready to talk about it. Thursday evening, my ex-father-in-law died. He fell outside on his back steps and bled to death. He was a wonderful, loving person and even though I didn't see much of him, he was my daughter, Megan's grandfather and he will be missed.

I couldn't post a picture of myself tonight cause Sarah isn't home tonight. She has gone to my brother's house for the night since I was supposed to have class in the morning. Soon, folks...soon. :-)
I've made some progress on my Shadow socks this week. Just not enough to suit me. I finished the heel and almost through the gusset. Slow but sure. I was to have a class tomorrow but it got cancelled due to the coming "inclement" weather predictions. Yippee! More knitting time...after I do some cleaning. The knitting time will be my reward for cleaning. Shouldn't take too long.

I finished this scarf up also. It is made from some Lion Brand Homespun yarn that I had wound up into a ball but I don't have the label with the color name. This is for our Markey Cancer project. Also counts toward my stash used up total.

Gonna sign off for now. Monk will be on in 20 minutes!

Items received for Project

The pink flower scarf on the left was received before Christmas. It was sent from the state of Washington by Mary. Her friend made this one.
On the right are two roll brim hats and one scarf sent by Gretchen from Sacramento, CA.
These are the first items in our Markey Cancer Center Project 2006.

Stash used and FO’s

Two scarves I finished this week. I finished the first one, Mistake Rib in Encore yarn “a UK Blue, on Tuesday night. The second one I finished on Thursday night.
The first one was a WIP and the second one I started early in the week and finished the same week. Really easy to do.
This is a shot of the Standing in the Shadow socks for the Six Sox Knitalong as of 1/21/06.
This is the progress I made in one week. See the hearts!? Kool, huh!? I love it. You can’t see it, but I have two rows done on the heels also. Hope to finish these by 1/31.

This is the yarn I plan to use for the next sock to begin on 2/1. I can use beads too, but I don’t know if I want beads. I already have a pair of socks with beads but they were kinda large and then there is the turquoise pair that I have to finish up using beads. I think I will skip them this time.

Rules of the game

Our group is also participating in a project I am calling the Markey Cancer Center Project 2006.
Here are the guidelines:
*Make a hat, scarf, or shawl.
*Colors of all sorts are welcome.
*Yarns of all sorts are welcome as long as it is soft to the skin. Use your imagination!
*Deadline to send items to me is July 1st. Delivery will be made to the Center as soon as I can arrange it after that date.
*Prizes will be awarded in different categories. When I figure what prizes and what categories, I will let you know.
Now get knitting!

Year of the Stash!!!

OK. A group of knitgals that I hang out with on the Internet have declared a contest wherein we use up our stash making projects. Since I already have three projects going that are using stash I declared myself in the running. BTW, the winner will get a prize! More stash, of course. Here are my three projects---

These are some Ripple pattern socks that are a late Christmas present from 2004 that I owe to a good friend. I decided it was way past time to get these finished.....I am using Opal Evening Breeze sock yarn.

This a Mistake Rib Scarf in Plymouth Encore. This is a 2005 Christmas present for my nephew.

Six Sox Knitalong latest pattern--Shadow Knitting. I am using Koigu yarn in dark and light purples.
All of these projects will be finished by the end of January. I am hereby committing myself to that deadline.
OK...I'm getting off here and getting back to knitting!

Busy, busy!

Yes I've been very busy since this is December. I have been knitting lots of presents and I am still knitting presents. Here is what was finished by December 21.

These two bags were made using the Lopi Tote pattern that is free on the net.
I used Cascade 220 for these bags.

These two were made using the Booga Bag pattern.

I used Noro Kureyon. I don't remember the colors.

Then I also had the Lucy bag and the two Vintage bags that I made earlier. These were all given away as presents. I didn't keep anything for myself. Boo hoo! I will have to make some more and maybe keep them. I made a brown and gray scarf for my two BILs. I am still working on a blue one for my nephew. The pair of socks that I promised by step daughter Michelle are finished now. I finished them on Tuesday. I am meeting her tomorrow to get some things to get ready to go back to college and will give them to her then.

I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd sock yarn in the Desert Flower colorway.

I also made two pair of wrist warmers using Plymouth Encore in Purple. I didn't take a picture of the first pair before I gave them away. But here is a picture of me wearing my pair. These will be great when I am typing or knitting this winter.

I almost forgot I also made three of these--two-sided fleece blankets.

Well, it is late and I must get to bed now. I will try to post again sooner.

OK, I'm back

OK, here is the picture of the brown scarf I finished up for a Christmas present. And here is an almost finished Booga Bag. I have barely started on the gray scarf (which I frogged out of the Irish Hiking pattern) and I will cast on another Booga Bag this weekend. I am going to try to knit up all the bags and then do a felting run with the bags. We'll see if that works!

I gotta go now. Work tomorrow....
