Busy, busy!

Yes I've been very busy since this is December. I have been knitting lots of presents and I am still knitting presents. Here is what was finished by December 21.

These two bags were made using the Lopi Tote pattern that is free on the net.
I used Cascade 220 for these bags.

These two were made using the Booga Bag pattern.

I used Noro Kureyon. I don't remember the colors.

Then I also had the Lucy bag and the two Vintage bags that I made earlier. These were all given away as presents. I didn't keep anything for myself. Boo hoo! I will have to make some more and maybe keep them. I made a brown and gray scarf for my two BILs. I am still working on a blue one for my nephew. The pair of socks that I promised by step daughter Michelle are finished now. I finished them on Tuesday. I am meeting her tomorrow to get some things to get ready to go back to college and will give them to her then.

I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd sock yarn in the Desert Flower colorway.

I also made two pair of wrist warmers using Plymouth Encore in Purple. I didn't take a picture of the first pair before I gave them away. But here is a picture of me wearing my pair. These will be great when I am typing or knitting this winter.

I almost forgot I also made three of these--two-sided fleece blankets.

Well, it is late and I must get to bed now. I will try to post again sooner.

OK, I'm back

OK, here is the picture of the brown scarf I finished up for a Christmas present. And here is an almost finished Booga Bag. I have barely started on the gray scarf (which I frogged out of the Irish Hiking pattern) and I will cast on another Booga Bag this weekend. I am going to try to knit up all the bags and then do a felting run with the bags. We'll see if that works!

I gotta go now. Work tomorrow....

Long time No see!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I have been extremely busy and not much to report either. I did finish a scarf and a pair of socks--

These are the Mosaic socks from the Six Sox Knitalong. I used Opal Rainforest Parrot and Opal Uni Solid #10 for these socks.

I don't have a picture of the brown scarf yet so that will have to wait till tomorrow.

I did rip out the gray scarf to knit it up using a mistake rib pattern just like the brown one. I have been very negligent about my knitting. I don't know if I will get it all finished in time. Right now I am knitting on the gray scarf and a Booga Bag using Noro Kureyon.

I am signing off for now. Hopefully, to return soon.

No pictures today

I had an 8 hour demo today, so I didn't get much done except some more knitting on the gray scarf during my breaks. I am very tired and need to do about 4 or 5 loads of laundry. It's not all getting done tonight. I will do what I can and finish the rest tomorrow. At least I got the floores swept when I got in this afternoon. I have another demo tomorrow also, only 6 hours. The yard needs to be mowed also, hopefully for the last time. It is supposed to be down in the 30's tonight. I wish it would get cold enough to freeze really good and kill all this stuff that is stuffing up my sinuses.
Well, gonna go now. I needs me beauty sleep.

Progress made...

but just a little. Here are some shots of the bathroom. The sponged pictures are the before pictures. The shots where the walls are white is where I am heading. The top halves will be white and the bottom halves will be solid navy blue. There will be a border around the middle of the room. I hope to eventually get all this done.

Here is a shot of the progress made on the gray scarf. It is coming along nicely.

Sarah and I had eye doctor appointments yesterday in Lexington. We made a couple of stops, of course, other than the doctor office. First, we took the car to have the oil changed, then next stop was The Stitch Niche! Here is what I got there...

I got the Fiber Trends Felted Clogs pattern. I may try to make a few of these for Christmas gifts. We'll see...
Also, two skeins of Ky blue Encore for another man scarf.
Sarah, of course, wanted some yarn for another hat and scarf for herself. The white, yellow, peach yarn is what she picked out.

Then we went to the big mall down the road. We went to Limited Too and got some training bras for Sarah and a pair of sleep pants also. Then a trip down to the other end to the Disney Store. My oldest daughter, Megan, had received a $15 gift card and I let Sarah pick out some things with it. She got two small stuffed animals(like she needs more...HA!) and a fold up brush. She was thrilled.
We left there and went to our eye appointment, the back to Nicholasville Road to the Super WalMart. I got a few groceries and some string and pins in anticipation of finishing the shawl and blocking it.

I have done a few more rows on the shawl but not enough to make a noticeable difference yet.

I was lazy today, however. I have been fighting a sinus infection all week of Fall Break. I didn't get anything done today except a couple of loads of laundry. I have a demo lined up for tomorrow and Sunday, so I better sign off for now so I can get some rest.

A little progress

I have made some progress on my Diamond Fantasy Shawl. Here it is pinned out some...

It's starting to look nice, huh?

I also cast on one of the Ch****mas scarves I need to make in the next two months. Here is the pic of that so far...
I have only done the seed stitch border and one repeat of the pattern. This is the Good Ole Cabled Scarf pattern found here... http://www.yarnagogo.com/good_ole_cabled_scarf/

This looks like a lovely pattern. Do you think it would be acceptable as a man't scarf? I hope so, cause that's what I'm going for.

On another front today, I went to hook up the VCR/DVD combo to the bedroom TV and found that the TV was too old to hook up to this. The only plugs were for the electric outlet and the cable hookup. So off to WalMart for a new TV. Got a new 20" flat screen. Really nice picture. Great to be able to see everything now, as the old one was only a 13". I got it about 13 years ago. Still works OK, so I moved it and the old VCR into Sarah's room, so she can watch videos. No cable hookup in her room.

I do wish she would stop tormenting the cat.

I am going to start painting the bathroom tomorrow. Gonna start with the white at the top half of the walls. The bottom half will be navy blue. Border to go around the middle of the room. Tomorrow I will take before pictures and progress pictures.

Better sign off for now so I can go back to my regularly scheduled scarf knitting. :-)

WooooHooo!

Today is the first day of Fall Break! I am going to spend most of the week knitting of course. Also have a couple of appointments to keep, but that just means more knitting time (and not feeling guilty about it cause I can't be doing housework instead). Here's what I'm working on right now...
This is a pair of socks using Lorna's Lace Shepherd Sock yarn in the Desert Flower color. I am not entirely happy that the socks are fraternal. I wish it would look like the one on the left. But, oh well, they are turning out very pretty anyway. I am working on the heel flap right now. Hope to get these out of the way this week so I can work on something else. In other words I have too much on the needles and yet to do before the *C* word!
AAAACH!
I will work on as much as I can and just accept it if I can't get it all done.
Also, really, really, really need to get the bathroom painted and the border up.
I still have my two Weight Watcher meetings to go work. But other than that, I am homefree for knitting (and reading) time! Yeah!
OK. So, in order to get some knitting time in I really must sign off for now. Maybe I can post a little more often this week, too. If there is something to report. LOL

Lucy Bag felted!

OK. Here is the Lucy bag all felted and dry. Doesn't it look cute? I love it. I used Cascade Pastaza for this one, but I am going to use some blue Cascade 220 for the next one. We'll see how that turns out. This one is really fuzzy.

I'm leaving you with this shot of our "queen" laying on a basket of clean towels. She truly is regal isn't she? Her name is SiSi (for Sierra) and she thinks she rules the household. OK, who am I kidding? She does rule it.

It is late now and I must go to bed. Gotta work tomorrow!

Gosh!

Two days in a row of posting and then I don't post anything for over a month. Ooops! Well here is what I have finished lately.

On the left is the latest pair of socks, Amble , from the Six Sox Knitalong Group. On the right is the 5th Breast Cancer Scarf I have finished. I am presently working on #6. Should finish it up soon.

I have also finished the Lucy Bag. The knitting part anyway. Still to be felted...Here is a picture prefelted....

I also have started a shawl...not my first, but by far, the prettiest one yet. I am using some Koigu PPPM in a nearly solid lilac color. So far it looks like a blob, but everywhere I read that once it is blocked it will be beautiful. Here is a progress picture....

Well, it's late now and I need to get to bed. I will try to post sooner than last time. So far I am not doing so well with trying to post once a week. Too much on my plate, I guess.

Here is the potato chip scarf using KnitPicks Shine yarn on the above left. The scarf on the above right is just garter stitch using Moda Dea Tutu.

Here are two of the Breast Cancer scarves I have been knitting. The one on the left is the one I am working on now. The one on the right is made with a block pattern using Moda Dea Ticker Tape.

W. I. P.'s

These socks are in a kind of feather and fan pattern. They are for a Christmas present for my step-daughter, so I want to finish these up and get it out of the way.

These are the socks with the beads. As you can see, I haven't gotten very far.

I am going to sign off for now, so my husband can get on the computer. Till later.

Two days in a row...

Will wonders never cease. Can't believe I am back again today. Let's see how many photos I can post before I have to leave...

Ok, here's one...This is the progress I have made on my Six Sox pattern called Amble. You can't really see much detail, but it is turning out nicely. I happy so far.
Well, I only have 5 more minutes before I leave for today's demo, so I had better sign off and try again tonight. Darn this slow dial up. Can't wait till I pick up the stuff for the cable hook up. Bye!

One more time...

I wrote out a long post earlier this evening and I forgot to save it I guess. Don't know where it is. So here I go again.

I have been doing some knitting on lots of projects. Well, actually, I have lots on the needles but am only knitting on three presently. The others will wait. Right at the moment I am actively knitting on a Lucy bag; the current Six Sox pattern, Amble; and a Breast Cancer scarf. Also on the needles, another sock pattern with beads added in; a feather and fan type pattern sock; and a halter top pattern from the Knitting Pattern-a-day calendar (June 3). I am determined to get the first 3 finished by the end of August and then start on the others next. I will probably cast on another BC scarf again since these are for charity and start another bag pattern of some sort. I am knitting up a bunch of these for a pick-and-choose Christmas present for the females in my family. They liked picking their own scarf last Christmas, so I thought maybe bags/purses this Christmas. Maybe do scarves or mittens for the men, since they got to pick a hat last year.
Let's see if I can post some pictures of these items...

Here is a progress picture of the Lucy bag. I am using Cascade Pastaza that I got on clearance from Little Knits. Great place!

OK...this dial up stinks. I can't get another picture posted tonight and since it is late anyway I'm going to quit for now. Oh, BTW, I am picking up my hookup for high speed tomorrow afternoon so let's see how that goes!

Hooray!

I know I haven't posted for awhile, but I was truly frustrated cause I couldn't get any pictures loaded. Now that this new feature has been added....... I got pictures!
Anyway, these are the Chutes N Ladder socks I knitted for the Six Sox Knitalong. This isn't a great picture, but at least it is here.
So....I will be trying to post more often and add pictures with each post.
Right now, I am working on two different socks, but both are with Opal solids. I am using the orange for the latest Six Sox pattern and it is really cool looking. I can wear these for Halloween. I haven't gotten very far yet to really see a pattern, so I am going to hold off on a pic til there is more progress.
The other pair is using the turquoise solid and beads to match. The pattern is kinda fiddly, and I am not sure I like the 9 stitch cable part, but I am going to make sure I finish both of these pairs by the end of September. I will have to start Christmas knitting again soon also. Knitting and felting purses for the ladies in the family, and not sure about the men. I am undecided between scarves or mittens to match the hats I made last year. I might try one of each to see how long each will take. I used Plymouth Encore for the hats so I am going to have to get more of the same colors to match. Hee hee! Another excuse to go yarn shopping. Like I need more.
Well, it is very late and I have to get up early to get to school to get ready for our first day next Tuesday. I have a long "To Do" list and haven't finished the first thing.
More later.

Long time no see

I have been very negligent about posting to my blog. Life interferes. I have been doing a little knitting. Not much though. I just finished up a two week class through UK that was held at KSU in Frankfort last Friday. I have been exhausted. I am still working at school trying to get things finished up there. Don't know when that will be.
I finished up two pairs of CIC socks yesterday and cast on my pair of the Chutes-N-Ladders socks for the Six Sox Knitalong group. This is the second year. I managed to get all six pair finished in time for the last year. Hope I can keep up with this year's offerings. I can't manage to get much else done though.
I still want to figure out how to get pictures on here. Maybe this summer I can manage that.
Well, it is getting really late and I still have a couple loads of laundry to do yet. I'll try to get more posted sooner this time.

School and things...

Only 19 more days of school left! Yay! I am ready for the end of school and so are the students. They are getting almost unmanageable. We really need some summer vacation. All this yucky rainy weather doesn't help either. No way for them to be outside and work off some of that energy.
On the knitting front, I am moving toward the toes of my Go Team! socks. Don't think I will make the May 1st deadline, though. I am going to give it my best shot. I started on another Vintage Bubble bag and I am about halfway done. I would like to get it finished also and start felting. If I can get the socks done then I can probably finish up the bag on Sunday. We will see.
In the meantime, I am also reading a couple of children's books--The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke and I am re-reading the Lemony Snicket books, A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Bad Beginning is the first one. I want to watch the movie but I want to refresh my memory on the books also.
I got the cutest Mrs. Knitter bear from Avon! She is holding a bag with a kitten in it and the bag says "Knitting is my bag." She also has a ball of yarn with straight needles sticking it (not real) I just love it! I need to get a doll stand so I can stand it up.
Bad news! Our riding lawn mower is dead. I am going to Georgetown tomorrow to the super WalMart to look at new mowers. We are going to get a self-propelled instead of a riding mower. My hubby says to go look and decide on one and then he will go over on Sunday to pick it up.
So, I need to run the sweeper and clean house tomorrow also. It's supposed to be rainy again so I will probably try to get this out of the way early. Oh, our Home and Garden show is tomorrow and I want to go look around. We need to do some things around here and I want to make some inquiries. Hope I can get it all finished.

No new finishes

I was hoping for at least one project finished but it is not to be. I had to go buy a new circular needle to finish the bag I am working on now and didn't even get the knitting finished. Maybe by next weekend. I am still working on the Go Team Go Socks from the Six Sox Knitalong. I want to finish these for sure by May 1st. I have too many other projects to finish.
So I went shopping...while I was in Lexington, I stopped at Target and picked up some of the cute little kits they have for learning to knit. I don't need to learn, I just wanted to get the projects. Here's what I got--Cat toys, Dog toys, summer tote, and Pocket purse. Then I went to Michaels--bought 2 skeins each of Moda Dea Tutu in petal pink; Moda Dea Dream in waterlily; and Patons Twister in Raspberry twist. All of these are in pinks because I was looking for something to knit breast cancer scarves. Just started on the Tutu this morning. Cast on 24 sts and knitting every row. Should be a quick finish. I must put this down and get back to work on the Team socks.
Finally, I stopped at WalMart and saw that they had some of the new colors on their shelf so I got 1 skein in these colors--Cotton candy, Cobalt, Grape, and Blue sky. Planning scarves for these also.
I am still doing laundry and need to change the sheets on both beds and then run the sweeper. But I don't wanna! :-( I would rather knit. Maybe I can reward myself with knitting the rest of the day, if I do some housework. ;-)
I really need to spend some time figuring out how to add pictures to this blog and pretty it up some. All the others that I read look really nice. But I just don't have time right now to do this. Perhaps this summer, when I am not working every day. Also, I plan on making some changes to my internet ... like change over to DSL or cable hookup. Gotta do some research on those. Also, plan on switching from Adelphia cable to Dish Network--lots more channels and better reception for about the same $$$.
Well, better go for now. Gotta get some housework and knitting time in before the day is done!

Busy, busy, busy

I have been very busy knitting since my last post. I have finished up a pair of socks that I started last year and another felted bag. This one is the Vintage Bubble Bag from Pursenalities. I am not really happy with the way the bottom of the bag finished up, but otherwise I really like it. I plan on making a few more of these for Christmas presents.
I got re-started on the last sock for the Six Sox Knitalong. I cut my losses on the first start because I didn't read the directions carefully and just started on my merry way to discover it wasn't what I thought it should be. So rather than frog it, I just cut the yarns and started fresh. I always have plenty left over at the end of a pair, so I figured I would still have enough.
I also need to update my Yahoo photo album with my latest finishes.
I am watching The Wedding Planner, one of my favorites. Matthew McConaughey is pretty nice to look at also. ;-)
I bought a couple of DVDs on Friday night and I watched them on Saturday. They were Bridget Jones 2 and Ocean's Twelve. I enjoyed both.
I am going to pause for a few minutes to finish getting my daughter off to bed.

I'm back!

I thought I was going to have to re-post the last entry, but when I logged in tonight I see it is there. Thanks goodness. One less thing I have to do.
So I retrieved my knitting bag from my daughter and I finished up a pair of socks and a Booga Bag so far this week. Let's see what else I can finish soon.
I went to a WW staff meeting tonight and got home at 9:15. There are still dishes in the sink to wash and laundry to dry, fold, and put away. Such is life.
Also, I am scheduled to do a demo tomorrow from 12 til 6. Then on Sunday, we have a birthday dinner to attend for my MIL.I don't know when I will find time to knit. But I'm sure I will manage. Maybe I can finish up the other bag I've started and get it felted this weekend and get some progress on the next pair of socks--which ones I don't know. I have another pair just in the ribbing stage for my step-daughter and another pair for the Six Soc Knitalong that I have finished the ribbing and I need to get started on the next part. I think I need to work on those first and get them further along cause it is a little more involved than the Ripple socks for Michelle.
One thing I need to do is figure out how to put pictures into this blog ... but for right now I don't have the time to invest in figuring it out. I will just keep posting my album addy for people to look at my progress.
Gonna go now cause it's late and I have tons of emails and *sigh* housework.

Friday, April 01, 2005

Uh, oh!

Ok. So I haven't posted since the middle of March. I have already broken one of my promises to myself that I would try to post at least once a week. So here I am to start again. I have been busy knitting although all I have finished is one pair of socks--the Stashbuster Spirals from the Six Sox Knitalong. They have posted a new pattern today as the sixth pattern and I have printed it out and need to rummage through my stash to find appropriate yarns to knit this one up. I was working on my latest socks -- Rainbow Ripples pattern using the Opal Elements -- but I left my bag in my daughter's car (actually my car, but she is borrowing till she can save money to replace the back tires on her car) on Wednesday afternoon, and I probably won't see her before Saturday night. So I went rumaging, knowing I have some things started here in my house that I hadn't finished. I am almost finished knitting the body of a Booga Bag in a long discontinued color of Noro Kureyon -- #36 -- very pretty pinks and purples. I have about 30 more rows on the body and then the i-cord straps to do and it will be ready to felt. Probably by tomorrow night. Anyway I hope so. Maybe I can take a picture and see if I can figure out how to post it to this blog... :-) This week has been Spring Break for our school system and I have accomplished nothing! I feel so guilty. But the whole idea of a vacation is to relax and refresh, so I guess I have done that. I have gotten lots more sleep this week. Then the time springs forward one hour this weekend which I like, but I hate the idea of losing an hour of sleep. One day to catch up is not enough. Wish we had another week off before facing the little darlings again. Ha! I have done some work this week, as I still worked my Weight Watchers meetings on Monday in Paris, and Tuesday in Cynthiana. I also started off my vacation by working 4 meetings Saturday morning in Lexington. Then I subbed for another receptionist on Thursday night in Carlisle. So I haven't been totally slothful. I did do some shopping on Wednesday, since I was in Lexington anyway, taking Megan back to her apartment. We went to Kohl's because they were having a big sale and I wanted to get one of those Dyson sweepers. The model I wanted, Animal, was out so all I got was a rain check. But at least it will be less expensive than I thought, so now I am back to plugging along with the old sweeper which does not pick up as well as I want. Two big projects I want to accomplish by the end of 2005 are getting my bathroom painted and ripping up the carpet in the hall and living room and replacing with some kind of wood flooring. I have everything I need for the bathroom, just not motivated to get it done yet. Perhaps this summer. I am still checking out flooring and prices for the other job. Well, the little darling of my own is whining about wanting on the computer and I really need to think about what I am cooking for supper and start gathering up for that. AND, I want to get back to knitting. So, if she is playing on the computer for a little while, maybe I can pop a DVD in and get some quality knitting done. Yay! TTFN! as Tigger says.

Sickness, socks and yarn

So I am back in a week. This week has been eventful. First of all I knit socks, lots of socks. So ... I finished my latest pair, Stashbuster Spirals. I belong to the Six_Sox_Knitalong and this was the latest pattern. Another one will follow in April. Now I am working on a pair of Ripple socks in Opal Elements, I forget which number. The have pink, blue, and yellow in them sort of like a rainbow. Then I need to make the same pattern using Lorna's Laces shepherd sock in the Desert Rose colorway.
I also started a Booga Bag in a Noro Kureyon color that is too old to remember - blues, pinks, purples. Really pretty!
I am still working on my WIP/UFO list so I can post it here and slowly finish things up. I want to finish up at least one old project to one new project, but haven't started that yet. Will start with the Booga Bag and then I can start a new one after that.
OK, the sickness part--my husband of 11 years has bronchitis, really bad. He has been off work for the last two days and really had me worried when he couldn't breath, at all, Thursday night. He is slowly getting better now and I am a little relieved about that. But he has a long way to go still.
And last but not least, the yarn...I ordered a bunch of Cascade 220 for felting a couple of weeks ago and it came in this week. Then today, while I was in Lexington, I stopped at the LYS and picked out (with help from my 20 yo DD) some Kureyon to coordinate with some of the Cascade 220. I have 7 bunches ready now to start purses for Christmas presents. Sure hope I can get them all done by then.
I work at Weight Watchers part-time as a receptionist and took my turn at the Center today. That is why I was in Lexington. I sure am tired after working all morning.
Woke up to a little covering of snow this morning, it melted off quickly as the ground was still warm. It has never gotten cold long enough for the ground to completely cool off.
I can't think of anything else to write for now, so I guess I will sign off for now.

Back again

I am hoping I can post at least once a week on this to try to keep up with things. I also want to learn to put pictures up on this...but in the meantime here is the link to my picture album on Yahoo -- http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/iluv2stitchnread/my_photos

I finished the first of a pair of Stashbuster Spirals. I am past the heel and moving up the leg of the second sock. I am hoping I can get this one done by tomorrow night.

Yuck! I have to do some housework today. I am so far behind and I have bunches of dishes to do, the sweeper to run and I have at least one load of laundry to do and also change the sheets on the bed.

Monday night, when I got home from working the Paris Weight Watchers meeting, I discovered my 9 year old daughter had decided to cut her bangs. They looked awful. Fortunately, we had appointments for Friday afternoon to cut hair and Judy was able to make it look more presentable. By next month, they should be back to normal. I don't know what possessed her.

I want to finish up a pair of socks in Opal by the end of this month also and I have loads of other UFOs to finish also. If I can knock off one pair of socks and one UFO per month I will be going strong. Maybe I should make a list of my UFOs and try to mark them off that way. If I put it in writing, I hope I can stick to it.

Guess I had better get off here and start on the housework. Then I can knit and not feel guilty.

Oh, yeah...I still have to make a run to WalMart before the day is over too. The 9 yo is in bed with a fever right now. She threw up last night about 3 or 4 times and has had at least 2 runs to the bathroom with the runs. Hope she gets over it soon or I may have to wait till Jimmy gets home to go to the store.
Oh, well...that's the way it goes. :-(

Hair and socks

OK. So I haven't posted for a few days. I never said I was going to post every day. I will be doing well to post once a week.
So, anyway...yesterday, I get home between 7:30 and 8:00 and my 9 yo daughter has decided to cut her own bangs and now they curve up into the middle of her forehead. I guess I am really surprised it hasn't happened sooner.
I have not touched any knitting all day. I just don't feel like it. I wanted to at least finish one sock before the end of February, but it is not to be. Oh, well. I am almost finished with one sock and I need to frog (for the 2nd time) the heel on the mate so I can move on up the leg and finish this pair before the end of March.
I definitely have too many WIP's!
I am going to look into posting pictures on this also. Must do that soon.
G'night.

Test

Just created my blog. Testing. :-)
